About this Iggy business...

...simple: better late than never. Regardless of one thinks of Ignatieff's foreign-policy views, I for one always find it refreshing when a politician candidly admits an error in judgement.

(Bonus points, of course, if that error in judgment didn't actually lead to a catastrophe, form the basis for a misguided policy, or kill anyone.)

I do wish Iggy could be a bit more to-the-point, though...

3...thoughts from my fellow Saturnalians:

  • It would have been better, perhaps, if it hadn't dithered its way into sounding like a piece of self-serving campaign literature, though. Fine idea, compromised execution. The story of his political life so far and, one is getting to suspect, from here on in. It's a shame - he coulda been a contender.

  • I think we must give some of these Liberal candidates a tiny bit of critical respite -- the Conservatives haven't been this organized since, well, 1984. Iggy coulda been a contender in, say, 2004. Maybe earlier, had he gotten into Chretien's cabinet...

    Dear Mr. Specter:

I have been asked to forward the enclosed tapes to you from a man named, David Amos, a Canadian citizen, in connection with the matters raised in the attached letter. Mr. Amos has represented to me that these are illegal FBI wire tap tapes. I believe Mr. Amos has been in contact with you about this previously.

    Very truly yours,
